The M&A Sourcing Associate will play a critical role in the growth strategy of Epika Fleet Services by identifying and engaging with potential acquisition targets. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with a strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and a passion for deal-making. The M&A Sourcing Associate will focus on sourcing, initial outreach, and qualification of acquisition targets, ensuring a strong pipeline of viable companies for evaluation. This role requires proactive engagement with business owners and key stakeholders, leveraging research and networking to identify high-potential opportunities.
This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with early-stage experience in M&A, business development, investment banking, or sales who is looking to gain deeper exposure to corporate development within a dynamic, fast-growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
· Prospecting & Research: Conduct market research to identify and evaluate acquisition targets within the fleet services industry.
· Utilize databases, industry reports, and other resources to build a robust target list.
· Outbound Engagement & Relationship Building: Initiate outreach through cold calls, emails, and networking to engage business owners and key executives.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with potential sellers, acting as the initial point of contact.
· Clearly communicate Epika Fleet Services' value proposition and M&A strategy to potential targets.
· Lead Qualification & Scoring: Assess potential targets using Epika Fleet Services’ acquisition scorecard, prioritizing leads based on strategic fit, financial performance, and operational synergies.
· Conduct preliminary due diligence, gathering relevant company information and financials.
· Prepare reports and summaries on prospects for the Corporate Development Manager and leadership team.
· CRM & Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, prospect status, and deal progression in the company's CRM system.
· Track and analyze outreach effectiveness, refining strategies for improved engagement and conversion.
· Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with the Corporate Development team to ensure seamless handoff of qualified prospects.
· Support the team in preparing materials for internal discussions, meetings, and presentations on potential acquisitions.
Education & Experience:
· 2-3 years of experience in sales, business development, investment banking, private equity, or M&A sourcing.
· Prior experience in industrial services, transportation, or trucking is a plus but not required.
Skills & Competencies:
· Exceptional verbal communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to engage with C-suite executives and business owners.
· Strong cold-calling and outbound sales capabilities, with a proven ability to build relationships from initial outreach.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with experience managing CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
· Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to assess businesses based on financial and operational metrics.
· Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset and the ability to work independently.
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
